“Serenity Now” may describe the island like feel of the Magnolia neighborhood, situated on a peninsula west of Queen Anne Hill and minutes from downtown Seattle.

Accessible by three bridges, Magnolia combines a friendly, small town atmosphere, sweeping vistas, natural beauty, and plenty of wide open park spaces in its four square miles.

Best known among Magnolia’s attractions is Discovery Park, at 534 acres, Seattle’s largest.  An in-city wilderness experience, the former Army base (Fort Lawton) now features seven miles of trails amongst meadows and forests, and is home to nesting eagles, herons, falcons, foxes and beavers, and is a favorite of runners looking for an in-city, yet off-road experience.  Walking trails descend to the smooth sandy beach and historical West Point Lighthouse.  Magnolia Park, on the south end, features stunning views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, and the lights of downtown.  Fisherman’s Terminal, on the north end across from the Ballard Locks, is home to a 400- berth, working fishing fleet.

Magnolia architectural styles are diverse.  Grand Tudors and Colonials line the broad boulevards of Carleton Park, and classic brick mid-century moderns frame the westerly views from picture windows.  Charming bungalows mix with upscale new construction.  Urban enclaves of townhomes and condominiums perch above Interbay.  If you appreciate the tranquility and views of an island like oasis, yet only minutes from the buzz of city life, let’s tour Magnolia today!
